The conference Itineraries of Philosophy and Science from Baghdad to Florence: Albert the Great, His Sources and His Legacies is promoted by the members of the seven research units of the PRIN 2022 project: Paola Bernardini (University of Siena), Alessandra Beccarisi (University of Foggia), Alessandro Palazzo (University of Trento), Stefano Perfetti (University of Pisa), Anna Rodolfi (University of Florence), Antonella Sannino (University of Naples L'Orientale), with the scientific direction of Amos Bertolacci (Principal Investigator, IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca).

The event aims to provide an updated overview of recent scholarship on Albertus Magnus, a major figure of Scholastic philosophy whose legacy deeply shaped medieval and early modern thought.

The programme is structured into four sessions, each introduced by internationally renowned keynote speakers: Agostino Paravicini Bagliani, Irven M. Resnick, Katia Krause, and Julie Brumberg-Chaumont.

The talks will explore Albert’s engagement with Greek, Arabic, and Hebrew sources; his political and metaphysical reflections; his contributions to Hermetism and natural philosophy; and the broader reception of his work, from the Cologne School to the Renaissance.

Scientific Committee: Amos Bertolacci, Antonella Sannino

Organizing Committee: Antonella Sannino, Carmela Giordano, Luigi Belli, Roberta Duraccio
